The Opportunity

Joining the business at a time of growth through successfully winning new, long-term contracts, this role will operate with support but also a large degree of autonomy and trust to complete their work. This work will include completing day-to-day purchasing tasks to short turnaround times, as well as working on long-term supply chain improvement directives.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for maintaining assigned supplier relations by selecting suppliers and negotiating prices for material and/or services required
• Analyse, negotiate and report supplier price changes
• Conduct periodic commodity surveys to obtain price comparisons; evaluate market trends to develop new services and create cost savings
• Identify potential problem areas and recommend changes

 The Candidate

The type of candidate that will succeed in this role can smoothly shift between performing day-to-day buying tasks and strategic development activities, and being recognised for getting the job done.

Essential and Desirable Skills/Experience

• Buyer/Purchasing experience
• Experience using MRP systems
• Negotiation skills and experience
• Problem solving skills and experience
