We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to join a leading international manufacturing organisation at their Abercynon site. Reporting to the Site Director, you will lead the engineering function driving product innovation, team performance, and continuous improvement.

The RoleThis is a senior-level opportunity to oversee the full lifecycle of product development—from concept to production—while managing a high-performing engineering team. You’ll be responsible for shaping technology roadmaps, improving processes, and collaborating closely with sales and business teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and aligned with strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver development projects on schedule
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the engineering team
  • Ensure compliance with quality and product development standards
  • Optimise development processes to reduce risk and cost
  • Implement effective project management and change control systems
  • Support production through engineering innovation and equipment optimisation
  • Communicate project updates to stakeholders
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve product and quality issues
  • Lead product portfolio management and innovation initiatives
  • Manage engineering budgets and drive financial performance
  • Support customer engagement and resolve complex technical queries
  • Build strong technical relationships internally and externally
  • Represent engineering at senior leadership level

About You

  • Degree in Engineering, Electronics, Physics or related field
  • Strong background in connector development for sectors such as defence, medical, industrial, automation, or automotive
  • Proven success in technical product development and strategy
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering leadership and team management
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills
  • Results-oriented, analytical, and collaborative
