Our client a family lead business since the late 1880's are recognised as one of the UK's leading Sawmilling companies, are currently looking for a fulltime Engineering Supervisor to join their team based within the Nairn area.

We encourage applicants with a solid grounding inIndustrial Mechanical Engineeringwith a strong Health & Safety work ethic, the role is shift work, which includes weekend working (1 in 3).

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the main purpose of this role would be to take ownership for all aspects of running an Engineering Shift, whilst giving support to the Engineering Manager.

Main Duties (not limited to):

  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations, safe working practices as detailed in Risk Assessment, Methods Statements, work instructions, permit to work and guidance from management.
  • Conduct weekly audits on staff working practices, when carrying out Isolation and adhering to controls in permits to work.
  • Maintaining effective communication between all members of the team, including staff, management, other Supervisors, other shifts, and departments.
  • Effectively communicate with Production staff to ensure breakdowns and maintenance are carried out and managed in a timely and efficient way.
  • Take responsibility for the developing skills of the team through the skills charts, multi skilling individuals and setting up a training programme.
  • Identify & implement any ideas and or new approaches in line with LEAN principles.
  • Improve downtime which may directly reduce running costs.
  • All work equipment used to be returned to the correct storage area and anything damaged or not fit for purpose reported on the CMMS.

Key Performance Indicators (not limited to):

  • Unit Downtime reduction
  • Improved uptime performance of main production units
  • Zero Health & Safety Team issues
  • Planned Dayshift, Backshift and Weekend shift work programme (for your team) e-mailed in advance to Engineering Manager for approval
  • Identify training needs of team members, produce a training plan

Skills and Experience Required:

  • HNC/HND/C&G or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
  • Maintenance experience in hydraulic networks and pipework/ hose assembly would be preferable, but not essential
  • Working on and repairing heavy duty machinery
  • Be able to work safely, under pressure, in a production environment
  • Comfortable e-maintenance system
  • Computer proficiency

The successful candidate will be offered salary (based on experience), including a non-contributory life assurance & pension scheme.
