Academics are seeking a passionate Science Teacher with experience of teaching students with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), to join an established SEMH School in New Milton. You will be required to plan and deliver Science over KS3 and KS4. Due to a high percentage of students working at KS3/lower level, this role is suitable for both a primary or secondary trained teacher.

This is a full-time, term-time contract to start in September. They are happy to consider candidates looking for either a permanent or temp to perm contract.

The school is based in New Milton and caters for pupils aged 7-16 years who find mainstream school difficult. They were classed as a 'Good' school by Ofsted in 2019 where they stated that - OFSTED says in July 2019 'Pupils make strong progress during their time at the school and most are able to successfully return to mainstream schools. Many pupils achieve significant improvements in a relatively short period. The carefully crafted culture of the school and its curriculum enable many pupils to make strong progress in their social and emotional development'

The school prides itself on recognising the barriers to education of their young people. Using detailed assessment packages, specific targeted work, coaching and self-reflection, they challenge and teach young people how to manage their emotions whilst maintaining academic progress. Issues can include inadequate social skills, self-awareness, motivation, self-regulation or empathy or any combination of these. They work to help young people develop socially and emotionally to unlock their personal barriers to learning as well as life itself.

You will be required to plan and deliver Science lessons to meet the needs to pupils across the school. Experience of teaching children with social, emotional and behaviour needs (SEMH) is essential.
