Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in supporting tendering processes and enhancing commercial performance across a variety of civil engineering projects. Whether you’re a Quantity Surveyor looking to expand your estimating expertise, or an Estimator seeking greater commercial involvement, this role offers an excellent platform for professional growth within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

About the Role:
This hybrid position provides exposure to both pre-contract and post-contract phases, blending cost estimation, bid preparation, and financial management to ensure projects deliver value from inception through to completion. You’ll play a pivotal part in driving the commercial success of each scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed time, cost, material, and labour estimates from project documentation.

  • Analyse tender documents and develop competitive bids.

  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks.

  • Undertake feasibility studies and cost planning.

  • Monitor project progress, assess variations and manage claims.

  • Collaborate closely with project teams and clients to achieve cost-effective delivery.

  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.

  • Produce detailed financial and performance reports.

  • Support value engineering and risk management initiatives.

  • Appraise new opportunities across projects and workstreams.

About You:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estimating or quantity surveying within civil engineering.

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Good understanding of NEC and JCT contract forms.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures.

  • Skilled in project budgeting and commercial control.

  • Proficient with estimating software (desirable).

  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

  • Full, clean UK driving licence (regular site visits required).
