Communications and Engagement Manager, Nottinghamshire (Hybrid working available)37 hours per week, 8 months FTC contract, £50,000 FTE Macildowie Recruitment is working in partnership with a forward-thinking local authority to recruit a Communications and Engagement Manager. This senior leadership role sits within the Transformation service and is responsible for leading the organisation's Communications and Engagement function. The successful candidate will ensure all communications and engagement activity aligns with the priorities, enhances its reputation, and builds trust with both the public and employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning and delivery of communications and engagement activities.
  • Develop and implement integrated strategies across: External communications and events, Consultation and engagement, Internal communications, Community engagement and Marketing campaigns.
  • Create inclusive engagement frameworks that reflect the diversity of local communities.
  • Manage reputational risk, media handling, and high-profile events.
  • Oversee brand consistency and quality across all communications.
  • Maintain effective relationships with statutory partners and the voluntary sector.
  • Manage budgets, performance indicators, and ensure legal compliance.
  • Represent the Council at internal and external meetings and events

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in leading communications and engagement functions.
  • Strong strategic planning and leadership skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience in managing media relations and reputational risk.
  • Knowledge of local government operations and relevant legislation
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
