Health & Safety Officer – West Region (Field-Based)Location: Newbury based (Covering Oxfordshire, M3 Corridor, Southampton, Plymouth)Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum + car allowanceAbout the Role:We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Officer to lead safety initiatives across the West Region for a prominent contractor specialising in planned maintenance and refurbishment. This field-based role involves direct engagement with operational teams, ensuring compliance and promoting a culture of safety excellence.About the Employer:Our client is a reputable organisation known for its commitment to excellence and innovation in the planned maintenance and refurbishment sector. With a strong presence across the South of England, they have a proven track record of delivering high-quality services to a diverse range of clients. The company prides itself on its collaborative approach, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure adherence to Health and Safety standards.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and training sessions to upskill in-house operatives.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments and safety protocols.
  • Engage with site teams to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Report directly to the Group Health & Safety Manager, providing updates and recommendations.
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
Candidate Profile:
  • Proven experience in a Health and Safety role within social housing or planned maintenance sectors.
  • Strong background in supporting operational teams in field-based environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and educate site personnel.
  • Digital skills to produce reports, analyse data and engage with new software.
  • An interest in the law and regulations surrounding the workplace.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the designated region, relevant driving licence.
  • Relevant industry relation qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, Relevant Degree or HND.
  • Knowledge of The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
