Production Shift Supervisor

Location: Newbury
Salary: Up to 33,000 per year
Hours: 38.75 hours per week, Monday-Friday (10am-6pm, with flexibility to cover early shifts)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity for a Production Shift Supervisor to lead and coordinate all production and end-of-day clean-down activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This hands-on role focuses on motivating teams, driving performance, and fostering a strong safety-first culture while delivering production targets and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and develop the shift team to achieve production targets.
  • Manage staffing activities, training, and onboarding.
  • Promote a positive, respectful working environment.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and product quality.
  • Investigate and escalate incidents and near misses.

Production Control & Process Management

  • Coordinate daily production to meet output and efficiency targets.
  • Oversee clean-down and setup for next day's production.
  • Monitor KPIs and liaise with maintenance for repairs.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Engage operators in CI initiatives and waste reduction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with maintenance, technical, warehouse, and planning teams.
  • Support new product introductions and trials.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Proven experience in manufacturing supervision or team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of production processes and KPIs.
  • Knowledge of health & safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in food manufacturing.
  • Training in Lean, Six Sigma, or CI tools.
  • Familiarity with OEE or similar performance systems.
