We're working on behalf of a fantastic special school in the Newbury area that are looking for SEMH Learning Support Assistants to join the team for an immediate start (ideally!). The school is split into 2 sites, primary & secondary and they're both on the lookout for new staff due to an increase in student numbers.

The school look after students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) & ASD. So the students do follow a similar curriculum model to mainstream environments but all students will have an EHCP.

The role

The role of LSA is all about being proactive in class. The most successful LSA's are people who never sit still and are always on the lookout for how to assist the class teacher.

You must be clam, patient, enthusiastic and feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour. Ideally you would have worked in a school environment before as well as SEMH. Due to the needs of the students it is essential that you are available for full-time work. The school are open to a range of applications though, so if you come from more a support work background, still feel free to apply!
