Job Title: Interim M&A Accountant
Location: Remote-based (occasional travel to Newcastle & target site as required)
Contract: 3-month minimum (outside IR35)
Day Rate: £500£600/day DOE
Start Date: Within 2 weeks
We are working in close partnership with a high-growth organisation in the North East to appoint an Interim M&A Accountant to lead the financial due diligence of a planned acquisition. This is a high-profile project requiring a commercially astute and technically strong accountant with a proven background in buy-side due diligence and a hands-on, flexible working style.
The ideal candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified, experienced in working independently on transactions, and able to provide robust challenge and insight to senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver financial due diligence for a target acquisition
- Analyse and interrogate historical financials, year-end accounts, accruals, and balance sheets
- Review management information and challenge assumptions to assess financial health and risks
- Prepare clear, concise reporting packs and recommendations for the parent company
- Liaise with internal teams, advisors, and the target business as necessary
- Support integration planning post-findings where appropriate
Candidate Requirements:
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Strong experience in buy-side M&A due diligence, ideally for SMEs or mid-market PE-backed businesses
- Hands-on, flexible and commercially focused approach
- Previous use of Sage accounting software preferred
- Excellent stakeholder and communication skills able to build relationships and influence decision-making
- Comfortable with remote working, but open to occasional travel (North East & possibly target site)
