The Opportunity:
As Senior Site Manager, you will be the lynchpin of the site-based team, responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of a major commercial Design and Build project. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overall Site Leadership: Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the construction site, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the project plan and relevant regulations.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Champion a positive safety culture on site, ensuring strict adherence to the company's HSE policies and procedures, conducting regular inspections, and proactively addressing any potential hazards.
- Programme Management: Oversee and manage the project programme, working closely with the Project Manager to monitor progress, identify potential delays, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Subcontractor Management: Effectively manage and coordinate all subcontractors on site, ensuring their work is carried out to the required standards, on schedule, and in line with contractual agreements.
- Quality Control: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures, ensuring all works are completed to the specified standards and in compliance with the project's quality plan.
- Communication and Reporting: Maintain clear and effective communication channels with the Project Manager, design team, client representatives, and all site personnel. Provide regular progress reports and escalate any issues promptly.
- Logistics and Resource Management: Oversee site logistics, including the management of plant, materials, and labour resources, ensuring efficient utilization and minimizing waste.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve any site-based issues or challenges that may arise, ensuring minimal disruption to the project programme.
- Client Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for the client on site, building strong working relationships and ensuring their expectations are met.
- Mentoring and Development: Provide guidance and support to junior members of the site team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Design Coordination: Work closely with the design team to ensure a smooth and efficient transition from design to construction, resolving any technical queries and ensuring buildability.
Skills and Experience:
- Significant experience as a Site Manager, with a proven track record of successfully delivering commercial projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and best practices.
- Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and motivate site teams and subcontractors.
- Proficiency in managing project programmes and budgets.
- Relevant CSCS card (e.g., Black Card).
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
