My client is a leading renewable energy and building services company, delivering large-scale solar, heat pump, and energy storage solutions across the UK. They focus on commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects, helping clients decarbonise and improve energy efficiency. They are expanding their team and are looking for talented Electrical Design Engineers to join their dynamic and growing business.

The Role:
My client is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to focus on designing large-scale solar systems, including solar farms and solar installations for commercial and industrial properties. The successful candidate will create innovative, efficient, and safe electrical designs that meet client requirements and comply with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical systems for large-scale solar installations, solar farms, and commercial/industrial rooftop systems.

  • Produce detailed drawings, layouts, schematics, and specifications using industry-standard design software.

  • Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and clients to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and compliant with regulations.

  • Carry out load calculations, short-circuit studies, and protection coordination for solar systems.

  • Support project delivery teams with technical guidance during installation and commissioning.

  • Ensure all designs meet health & safety standards and adhere to UK electrical regulations.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of renewable energy technologies, electrical standards, and design tools.

Requirements:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is essential.

  • Proven experience designing large-scale solar PV systems and/or solar installations for commercial and industrial properties.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical principles, grid connection requirements, and renewable energy standards.

  • Proficiency with electrical design software (my client will provide any project-specific tools required).

  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
