Electrical Design Engineer - Building Services

We are looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to support our internal, cross-disciplinary design function within the Council's Housing and Property Services team. This position will play a key role in delivering compliance-focused projects and capital improvements across a wide range of Council-owned buildings.

The successful applicant will collaborate closely with our in-house Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and manage electrical and mechanical engineering design packages. The work will support varied upgrade and maintenance projects across a diverse property portfolio, including leisure centres, educational facilities, museums, libraries, and other public assets.

You will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective completion of various technical deliverable, such as condition assessments, engineering drawings, design specifications, and related documentation. All work must adhere to regulatory, budgetary, and quality standards.

Applicants should ideally have relevant experience in building services design and a working knowledge of the RI BA project stages (0-7). The ability to prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings, schedules, reports, and specifications, is essential.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating with external consultants, producing reports on the condition of existing infrastructure, and drafting project briefs for specialist contractors as part of the tender process.

The role requires travel to various sites and involves physical site inspections. Proficiency with relevant design and modelling tools, including Auto CAD, Rev it, Hevacomp, and IES, is expected.
