  • Define electronics architectures, balancing performance, safety, cost, manufacturability, environmental constraints and long-term maintainability.

  • Act as design authority, setting and upholding electronics engineering standards across the organisation.

  • Oversee and review schematic capture and PCB design, ensuring robustness across power integrity, signal integrity and EMC.

  • Guide verification, validation and compliance, working with external test houses to achieve EMC, safety and environmental certification.

  • Take ownership across the full product lifecycle – from requirements and architecture through prototypes, qualification and fielded systems.

  • Mentor and develop electronics engineers, building capability and reinforcing best practices.

  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, firmware, software and systems teams to ensure cohesive, integrated designs.

  • Balance hands-on technical delivery with leadership, prioritising across multiple programmes in a fast-paced environment.

Principal Electronic Engineer Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

  • Significant experience delivering complex, safety-critical or high-performance electronic systems.

  • Strong expertise in schematic capture and PCB design (Altium preferred), including multilayer, high-density and mixed-signal boards

  • Solid technical grounding across several of the following domains:

    • Power electronics and power distribution (DC/DC, protection, motor drivers)

    • High-speed digital design (Gigabit Ethernet, USB, microcontrollers, FPGA)

    • Analogue electronics (sensors, amplifiers, precision interfaces)

    • EMC design, grounding, filtering and shielding

    • Ruggedised or defence-grade design practices

  • Experience in defining system architectures, requirements and structured engineering processes.

  • Proven ability to plan and execute verification and validation, including environmental and EMC testing.

  • Comfortable mentoring others and operating as a senior technical authority.

  • Able to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and make sound engineering decisions under pressure.

This is a permanent, full-time on-site role with flexible working hours and a competitive benefits package.
