Kinetic Recruitment are resourcing for a skilled Armature Winder to join our client's Electrical Operations team in Newcastle. In this role, you'll apply your mechanical and electrical expertise across a range of technologies, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of work. Working within a small, supportive team, you'll bring motivation, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
The Role:
Carry out Electrical Fitter/ Winder activities within the Newcastle Facility.
Apply your knowledge of generator mechanical and electrical systems across multiple technologies.
Use your trade-specific skills to perform tasks safely, competently, and to a high standard.
Follow instructions from supervisors and managers while taking responsibility for your own work.
Identify and report issues or defects promptly.
Support day-to-day operations and contribute to problem-solving activities.
Complete inspection records accurately and on time.
Work safely in line with risk assessments, method statements, and company procedures.
Demonstrate commitment and motivation in all work programmes.
Undertake training and development in new or existing skills where required.
Support the training and mentoring of junior employees when needed.
Maintain excellent attendance, punctuality, and time management.
Embrace and promote company initiatives such as Zero Harm, Talk to Me, and Right First Time.
Skills Needed:
A completed electrical/mechanical apprenticeship (or equivalent qualification).
Hands-on experience in electrical fitting (winding), ideally with large generator rotors up to 660MW.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Proven experience repairing air-cooled, hydrogen-cooled, and water-cooled generator rotors.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and time management abilities.
Basic computer literacy (advantageous).
The role will be on a dayshift to start with, and then will move to a 3 shift pattern (mornings/ afternoons/ nights).
