Are you passionate about English and experienced in supporting learners aged 16 and above?

GSL Education are actively recruiting for a dedicated Post-16 English Tutor to work in a college or sixth-form setting in Newcastle. This role is ideal for a tutor or educator who thrives on helping students who need extra support, particularly those working towards GCSE re-sits or Functional Skills.

As a Post-16 English Tutor, you will deliver focused intervention sessions to small groups and individual learners. Many students may be preparing for English resits, require literacy support for vocational courses, or need additional help due to prior learning gaps. Your goal is to build confidence, improve academic outcomes, and foster engagement.

Responsibilities:

• Support Individual Learning: Help implement personalised learning plans.
• Provide Targeted Support: Offer 1:1 and small group assistance tailored to student needs.
• Monitor Progress: Track student development and adjust support as required.
• Collaborate with Staff and Families: Work closely with teachers, support teams, and parents/carers.
• Create a Positive Environment: Help build a space where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged.
• Engage Learners: Use a variety of strategies to maintain student interest and adapt to different learning styles.
• Keep Accurate Records: Maintain documentation of student progress and share insights with staff.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience teaching English to learners aged 16+ in a school, college, or alternative provision setting.
• Sound knowledge of the Post-16 English curriculum, including Functional Skills and GCSE specifications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, adaptability, and a learner-focused approach.

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
