Graduate Occupational Hygienist - Newcastle - £25,000 to £30,000 + Benefits + Full Training

A well-established UK-based Environmental and Health & Safety Consultancy is seeking a Graduate Occupational Hygienist to join their growing team in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for a science graduate to begin a rewarding career in occupational hygiene, working on a wide range of industrial and workplace health risk assessments.

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree (BSc or MSc) in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Occupational Health, or a related subject.

  • Strong interest in workplace health, exposure monitoring, and safety compliance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Awareness of occupational hygiene monitoring techniques (e.g., dust, fumes, noise, vibration, COSHH assessments).

  • Previous experience through placements, internships, or academic projects.

  • Familiarity with HSE guidance and UK workplace regulations.

The Role:You will be trained and supported by senior hygienists as you develop the technical skills required to deliver high-quality occupational hygiene assessments across industrial, construction, and public sector sites. The role combines fieldwork, data analysis, and technical reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting workplace exposure monitoring for noise, dust, fumes, and other hazards.

  • Supporting COSHH risk assessments and health surveillance.

  • Assisting with report writing and recommendations for compliance.

  • Visiting a wide variety of client sites across the region.

  • Developing your knowledge of UK legislation and industry best practice.
