Assistant Planner - Newcastle
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a highly regarded national planning consultancy in their search for an Assistant Planner to join their Newcastle office. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate or early-career professional to develop their skills and gain invaluable experience in a supportive and dynamic team environment.
The Role
As an Assistant Planner, you will support colleagues in delivering a diverse range of planning projects across multiple sectors, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, and infrastructure. Key responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the preparation, submission, and management of planning applications.
Carrying out planning research and policy reviews.
Drafting planning statements, reports, and supporting documents.
Liaising with local authorities, stakeholders, and clients under supervision.
Supporting appeals and development plan representations.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with:
A degree (and ideally a postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related subject.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
A genuine interest in pursuing a career in planning and working towards RTPI chartership.
Previous work experience or placement in planning (public or private sector) is desirable but not essential.
