Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected and growing property consultancy in the recruitment of a Principal Planner to join their established team in Newcastle.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented planning professional looking to take the next step in their career within a dynamic and supportive consultancy. Our client delivers a wide range of planning services across sectors including residential, rural, commercial, and mixed-use developments. With continued growth in demand, they are seeking a commercially minded Principal Planner to lead projects, mentor junior team members, and play a key role in business development.

The Role:As a Principal Planner, you will lead on complex planning applications, appeals, site appraisals and strategy development. You will have regular client contact and will work closely with landowners, developers, and local authorities across the region. The role offers the autonomy to manage your own projects while being supported by a collaborative and knowledgeable planning team.

What we're looking for:

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related field

  • Chartered Member of the RTPI

  • Significant planning experience, ideally in a consultancy environment

  • Excellent project management and communication skills

  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and generate new business

  • A strong knowledge of the North East planning system and development landscape

  • Full UK driving licence
