Are you a newly qualified or early-career teacher ready to begin your journey in a supportive and thriving secondary school environment? If so, GSL Education are working with welcoming secondary schools in Newcastle to appoint enthusiastic and committed Early Career Teachers (ECTs) across a variety of subject areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to start your teaching career in a school that values professional development and offers strong mentoring support to new teachers.

As a Secondary ECT, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons in your subject specialism, supporting students of all abilities, and contributing to the wider school community. You will be paired with an experienced mentor and provided with structured guidance to help you complete your induction successfully and develop into a confident, impactful educator.

Responsibilities of the Secondary ECT Teacher:

  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning and high expectations.
  • Work closely with your mentor and the wider teaching team to reflect on practice and implement feedback.
  • Contribute to the academic and personal development of pupils through enrichment activities and pastoral care.
  • Participate fully in the school’s CPD programme and ECT induction process.

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • A Qualified Teaching Status (QTS), or equivalent teaching qualification in a secondary subject area.
  • Experience as an Early Career Teacher in a secondary school setting, with the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet student needs.
  • A strong subject knowledge and passion for teaching, with a commitment to fostering academic excellence.
  • The ability to inspire and engage students through creative and interactive teaching methods.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and reflective approach to teaching, with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
