My client is a large accountancy practice based in the Newcastle area. Working in an established practice, you will be the main colleague for the payroll team. Our client is looking for an experienced payroll professional with experience in payroll processing to join them on a permanent basis.

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of weekly and monthly payroll for the portfolio of clients for the business.

The role is hybrid working (4 days in the office) with great flexible working and an early Friday finish.

The holidays are 26 days plus bank holidays and also has Christmas days off on top of this.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the payroll processing as your sole responsibility
  • Process improvement and minimising errors
  • Solving queries and conducting client facing discussions with clients
  • Communicating with external clients and internal stakeholders
  • Producing reports for senior management with regards to payroll
  • Ability to assist on hands on payroll and picking up new clients
  • Using Brightpay and an internal payroll system to process payroll and Microsoft excel

Requirements

  • Able to demonstrate sole responsibility
  • Examples to show your experience of balancing workload
  • Interest in development of teams long term
  • Previous experience processing complex payrolls high volume
  • Need to be up to date on legislation
  • Experience of working with other departments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good systems skills including MS Excel
  • Bureau/client payroll experience ideally
