Production Team Leader, £29,640 per annum + benefits, Newcastle upon Tyne, Amazing Company with Fantastic Culture, Monday to Fridays only i.e. 6am to 2pm (Week 1) and 2pm to 10pm (Week 2).
Overview of the Production Team Leader:
The purpose of the Production Team Leader is to oversee the performance of designated production areas and shifts, to ensure the production plan is met, with the highest possible efficiency and quality standards.
Production Team Leader duties:
- Ensure correct set up and optimise materials and staffing levels, to ensure maximum efficiency to achieve the production plan
- Proactively minimise and prevent downtime or any detrimental impact on performance, identifying any areas of improvement and escalating concerns
- Make informed decisions in relation to the smooth running of the production floor
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of Production Operative and Line Leads
- Liaise with provider, regarding day-to-day management of agency workers
- Promote a culture of good health & safety, ensuring appropriate standards are observed at all times. Record relevant incidents, conduct investigations, carry out risk assessments and ensure corrective actions are in place where appropriate
- Responsible for ensuring brand integrity and authenticity, product quality, adherence to specifications and proactively preventing non-conforming products
- Effectively implement changes in processes and procedures, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Assist with the delivery of projects and initiatives
- Conduct interviews and ensure a smooth onboarding process for all new starters.
- Carry out training needs analysis and ensure training is scheduled and carried out accordingly, in line with the production plans.
- Communicate with employees clearly and regularly, through team briefings and 121’s.
- Support Production Operatives and Line Leads to maintain required levels of performance within their role, through coaching and performance management.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and practices, taking corrective action as required.
- Chair formal meetings with employees and conduct relevant investigations.
- Deputise for Assistant Production Managers and fulfil other ad hoc duties
Experience Needed:
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Good understanding of food safety, quality and H&S
- Good level of people management and interpersonal skills
- Proficient IT, written and numerical skills
- Excellent communicator (both verbal & written)
- Ability prioritise tasks
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyse data
- Organised, with a problem-solving mindset
- Able to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
