We are working with a leading Main Contractor with a strong presence in the North East, who are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of construction projects, contributing to key developments across the region.
The Role:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects from inception to final account. You will play a crucial role in ensuring financial control, maximising profitability, and mitigating risks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation and submission of accurate and timely valuations and applications for payment.
- Procurement and management of sub-contractor packages, including negotiation of terms and conditions.
- Cost reporting and forecasting, providing detailed financial analysis to project teams and senior management.
- Identification, preparation, and negotiation of variations and compensation events.
- Risk and opportunity management, actively seeking to mitigate commercial risks and identify opportunities for value enhancement.
- Contract administration, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and procedures, with a particular focus on NEC4.
- Preparation of final accounts with clients and sub-contractors.
- Providing commercial advice and support to project managers and operational teams.
- Mentoring and developing junior members of the commercial team.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor working for a Main Contractor.
- Demonstrable experience with NEC4 contracts is essential.
- A strong understanding of various forms of construction contracts.
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in relevant industry software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building effective relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Full UK driving license.
