Job Title: Manual Turner / Borer
Job Purpose:
To operate conventional turning (lathe) and boring machines to produce high-precision components, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in all operations.
Reporting To: Production Supervisor (or relevant line manager)
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate conventional turning and boring machines to produce precision parts.
- Assist with the final fitting of components.
- Correctly position components using lifting equipment if required.
- Identify machining operations needed to achieve required component sizes.
- Machine components in accordance with technical drawings and job instructions.
- Perform first-off checks and measure components using hand tools such as verniers and micrometres.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in your work area.
- Follow company procedures and safety guidelines.
- Ensure all work meets quality and health & safety requirements.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Engineering Apprentice level or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar environment (metal cutting/manufacturing preferred).
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical drawings.
- Manual handling and overhead crane experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven team-working and planning skills to meet objectives.
- PC literate, with experience using spreadsheets and reporting systems.

- May involve travel within the UK or abroad for training or work purposes.
