Job Description

The Role

We are seeking a high-calibre individual to provide comprehensive support to the Early Careers function. This role is an excellent opportunity to work very closely with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless and high-quality experience for Early Careers programmes and internal stakeholders.

This position requires significant understanding of the Early Talent Programmes, internally supported Routes to Law and Legal Apprenticeships.

A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development is expected, as well as building strong internal and external relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing onboarding processes for Early Careers joiners with support from the HR Operations team
  • Act as main point of contact with Future Trainees and Apprentices before and during studies (ER issues / Pastoral support/keep in touch days)
  • Maintain and update the future trainee database and tracking data and metrics for trainees
  • Liaise with the wider HR department including but not limited to the generalist team, D&I and graduate recruitment to ensure a smooth onboarding and on programme experience and aligned approach
  • Design and deliver Early Talent Induction programme alongside L&D and act as a key facilitator on the welcome days
  • Co-ordinate the biannual team allocation process, and rotation preference processes, including international and client secondments, and manage the associated documentation, sign-off processes and connecting Global Mobility
  • Liaise with the Resource Management Team to confirm allocation requirements and monitor resourcing levels
  • Attend and facilitate Early Talent Forum meetings, creating and implement action plans based on feedback raised
  • Attend social / development events for future and current Early Talent
  • Act as a key point of contact with external Law School and regulatory providers to ensure smooth programme delivery (picking up action points discussed with BPP)
  • Liaise with the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority as required and understanding the SRA regulations for qualification. Including any updates with regards to the SQE
  • Oversee, coordinate and communicate the appraisal process, including communication of timelines, monitoring completion, and supporting performance discussions
  • Oversee information sessions and logistics of Early Talent engagement with the Partner and Supervisor population.
  • Deliver the biannual qualifying solicitors processes, reviewing and improving processes
  • Participate in regular review meetings with those on Early Talent Programmes to discuss their performance and provide guidance/career coaching
  • Liaise with the wider HR department including but not limited to the generalist team, D&I and graduate recruitment to ensure a smooth experience and aligned approach
  • Support HR Business Partnering team including but not limited to, managing ER issues and performance for Early Talent
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the Early Careers function
  • Manage the invoice and expense process for Early Careers activities
  • Facilitate / present and contribute to attraction and development activity
  • Providing support for team overflow work and covering during periods of absence (holiday/sickness)

Skills and Experience Required

The Early Talent Development team operates in a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive environment, and we seek a candidate interested in further developing their existing experience.

  • Previous experience of Early Talent development and/or HR
  • A general understanding of employment and immigration law is beneficial.  
  • Ability to engage and gain credibility with senior stakeholders
  • Literacy and numeracy skills,
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • Resilience with the confidence to deliver presentations and difficult messages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to track and translate data into narrative
