An opportunity to join an exciting organisation as a Welder.
The purpose of the role you will be responsible for to weld metal components to produce finished goods that will be susceptible to all forms of post weld inspection/NDE
You will be working as part of the fabrication and welding team ensuring that manufactured parts/ fabrications meet customer requirements and that these are provided in a timely manner.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manually weld steel parts (carbon steel, high tensile steels, hardened & stainless steels) using parameters set out by welding procedures; using predominately manual gas shielded metal arc processes (bare wire & flux core processes) to BS EN (phone number removed) and BSEN287 standards and predetermined procedures.
- Follow all safe working practices.
- Understand drawings (weld symbols) and materials.
- Grind of clean weld joint of work pieces prior to welding.
- Use disc grinders and chippers to smooth out, weld, or grind parts post welding.
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding units.
- Carry out visual examination of weld for bead size and other specific specification.
- Repair improperly welded pieces to specific procedures.
- Clean-up work area daily.
Essential:
- Complete a pre-production multi pass weld qualification test piece on a single bevel, overhead plate weld using the GMAW process.
- Understand and apply welding techniques.
- Accept responsibility for the work performed.
- Visualise what the finished product should look like.
- Experience of semi-automated welding processes.
- To be able to read drawings / data sheets.
