GSL Education London Branch is currently seeking a passionate SEN Support Assistant to join inclusive and welcoming secondary schools in Newham and Tower Hamlets from September 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for a committed SEN Support Assistant to work closely with students who have special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in a supportive learning environment. If you are patient, empathetic, and motivated to support children’s development, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities of a SEN Support Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN, including those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
  • Help students to stay focused and engaged in lessons
  • Support the class teacher in adapting resources and activities to meet student needs
  • Monitor and track students’ progress and report to the SENCO and class teacher
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote self-esteem and independence
  • Assist with personal care if required
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, and parents

Requirements for the SEN Support Assistant role:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
  • A calm, positive, and nurturing approach
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work effectively under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Right to work in the UK
