Private Client Solicitor or Director

Location: Newhaven office or other local office (some home working available)

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Private Client Practitioner or Solicitor or Director to join their friendly Private Client team.

The role is intended to be based in their Newhaven office but could be based in another of their offices and some home working will be available.

The role has a mixed private client caseload and may cover for example (depending on experience) probates, intestacies, taxable estates, wills, LPAs, Court of Protection, Trusts and management of client’s affairs; therefore a candidate who has a range of experience would be ideal.

The successful candidate will work alongside other Solicitors / Practitioners within Private Client and will work with and report to the Directors and Head of Department.  

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage all client work allocated by the Head of Department or other Director.
  • To provide an ongoing high standard of client care to existing clients.
  • To work with Directors and other Private Client Practitioners, playing an active role in developing new business.
  • To deliver fee income in line with targeted objectives.
  • To keep informed of all changes in the Law and Practice and maintain relevant CPD.
  • To supervise, support and develop immediate support staff.
  • To perform work in line with the firm’s risk procedures, comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the Rules on the Professional Conduct of Solicitors.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years PQE as a Private Client Solicitor or Practitioner
  • This role would also suit someone who is ready to step into a Director role, or an existing Director looking for a new challenge
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage a varied caseload and deliver a high-quality service
  • Ability to work independently but seek advice from other members of the department.
  • Excellent mentoring skills to develop support staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and client care skills
  • Friendly, proactive and a positive attitude
  • A strong ability for networking would be desirable.
