Job Profile

The Production Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring production equipment and plant machinery are maintained to the highest standard to minimise downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). This multi-skilled position requires a proactive and solutions-focused individual with experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Provide rapid technical assistance for plant and equipment failures, performing fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on jigs, fixtures, plant, and production equipment.
  • Identify, source, and manage component and supply inventories to prevent repair delays.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimise production efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Develop and refine local operating procedures to enhance equipment longevity and performance.
  • Support the implementation of production process changes and ensure strict process adherence.
  • Communicate specification updates clearly and promptly to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure all equipment modifications comply with health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to integrate improvements and provide technical guidance.

Requirements / Skills

Essential:

  • HNC/ONC, City & Guilds, NVQ Level 4, or a time-served apprenticeship in Engineering or Electronics.
  • Strong experience in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability.
  • Competent user of MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible and self-motivated with a results-driven attitude.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience with automation and injection moulding equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience using SolidWorks.
  • Proven leadership or team training experience.
  • Commercial awareness and customer focus.
