I'm looking for an electrically biased Applications Engineer to join our client in Newmarket.
Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate technical and commercial quotations for switchboards, MCCs, and control panels.
Review customer enquiries, specifications, and drawings to define solutions.
Act as the technical point of contact during pre-sales and quotation stages.
Liaise with customers to clarify requirements and propose suitable options.
Work with internal design, production, and procurement teams to confirm feasibility and costs.
Ensure proposals comply with relevant standards (ISO 9001, BS EN, UL/CUL).
Provide smooth handover of information from quotation through to order fulfilment.
Maintain accurate records of enquiries and quotations.
Requirements:
Background in electrical engineering, applications engineering, or technical sales.
Experience in quotations, estimating, or applications within electrical panels, LV distribution, or control systems.
Understanding of switchboards, MCCs, and control panels (without needing to do detailed design).
Ability to interpret customer specifications, drawings, and tender documents.
Strong commercial awareness and costing skills.
Excellent communication and client-facing ability.
Organised and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple enquiries.
Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, or UL standards is an advantage.
Benefits:
Salary: 35,000 - 45,000 (dependent on experience).
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
