Technical Manager – Chemicals

A leading fine chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturer is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee Production and Development operations. The Technical Manager role is a key leadership role focused on safety, quality, team performance, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day Production and Development operations.
- Ensure safe, compliant, high-quality manufacturing.
- Train, support, and develop team members.
- Review production and QC data; track KPIs and drive performance.
- Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot issues across Production, Development, QC, and other site functions.
- Coordinate maintenance, servicing, and calibration of equipment.
- Deputise for the Site Director as and when required.
Requirements
- Degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or relevant industrial experience.
- Leadership experience within chemical/pharma manufacturing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of ISO standards.
- Competent with Office 365 and basic IT systems.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma or similar is beneficial.
Desirable
- 10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing
- Experience with analytical techniques (GC, HPLC, FTIR, KF).
- Project management and data analysis capabilities.
Additional Information
- On-site role
- Exposure to plant and lab environments; PPE sometimes required.
- Must have full Right to Work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
Benefits

Salary £50,000 - £60,000.
