My client is a Top 20 firm of Chartered Accountants; their Newport office is looking for a Bookkeeper to join its growing Accounts team.

This role is crucial for supporting my clients Business Services Assistant Manager and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping for their diverse client base. You will be responsible for a range of bookkeeping duties, including data processing, reconciliations, VAT return preparation, and assisting with accounts preparation. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, and possess excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform data processing and reconciliations, both at client premises and in the office.• Manage bookkeeping tasks up to accruals and prepayments level.• Prepare and submit accurate VAT Returns.• Provide assistance with accounts preparation.• Handle ad-hoc queries raised by clients efficiently and professionally.• Maintain and develop technical ability by attending webinars and staying updated on technical developments.• Support junior colleagues with queries related to bookkeeping and accounts.• Keep the Business Services Assistant Manager informed of any issues or potential time overruns.• Clear review points and address follow-up queries until accounts are finalized.

Requirements:

• Bookkeeping experience within an Accountancy practice • Proficiency in Xero, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.• Ability to accurately reconcile all control accounts.• Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and manage workloads effectively.• Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting confidently with clients and colleagues.• Experience with Sage Line 50 (not essential)• Familiarity with other accountancy packages such as IRIS or SAPA (not essential)
