Your new school:A Teaching Assistant job has become available on a long-term basis in a nursery class in an Infants' school in Newport. The school strives to put learners first and prides themselves on having an excellent partnership between pupils and parents. They have great links within the community and are keen to deliver the curriculum in a motivating manner. Your new role: This is a full-time role and is confirmed on a long-term basis. You will be supporting pupils in a nursery class on a general basis. The role will involve general classroom assistance, such as running playtime activities and helping with early years literacy and numeracy sessions. Duties relating to the role include but are not limited to:

  • Working as part of a team to help take care of and engage younger-aged pupils in the nursery class.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe environment for the pupils to work in.
  • Helping to develop the pupils' personal and social development, well-being, and cultural diversity.
  • Some elements of personal care will be required.

What you will need to succeed: To be successful in this role, it is necessary that you have experience working in a nursery or educational setting. To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess:

  • At least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering within a school over the course of the last 2 - 3 years.
  • Empathetic and calm with problem-solving skills, showing commitment and a high degree of motivation.
  • Experience of supporting a nursery-aged child.
  • Play work qualifications are desirable but not essential.
