Robert Half is partnering with a pro-active, forward-thinking firm in Newquay to recruit for an Accountant / Client Manager on a full-time and permanent basis.
About the Role
This position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of clients including private individuals, sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. You'll be part of a supportive team of around 20 professionals who are experienced, approachable, and committed to delivering a high standard of service. Ongoing training and development is provided through a mix of online learning and hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of clients and overseeing departmental operations
- Supervising and reviewing work of other staff
- Coaching and developing junior team members
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues and clients
- Preparation of accounts and tax returns
- Bookkeeping and VAT return preparation
- Providing general assistance, advice, and support to colleagues and clients
- Attending training courses
- Adhering to internal systems, processes, procedures, and performance standards
About You
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at Grade C / 4 or above
- 3 A Levels (or equivalent) at Grade C or above
- AAT/ATT qualification (or equivalent)
- ACCA/ACA/CTA qualification (or equivalent/QBE), or currently working towards it
- Experience working in a UK accounting practice
- Proven track record in client or team management, or ready to step up from a senior/assistant role
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Familiarity with accounting software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage pressure
