About The Chocolate Smiths
The Chocolate Smiths, based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, began in 2014 when Steffi Smith started making chocolate bars from her tiny kitchen at home. Eleven years later, we have a wonderfully talented team that hand-make thousands of chocolate bars in an industrial unit in North Shields. We sell our chocolate at events, directly from our unit and online, sending our Bizarre chocolate bars worldwide.
We pride ourselves on our unique innovation and attention to detail. Every single feature matters when it comes to the customer experience that we provide, and now more than ever, we are focusing on building a magical brand that brings excitement and joy to our chocolatey community! We create more than just chocolate. We create experiences to remember.
All of our team members are an integral part of the foundation on which we are building. We like to leave no idea unspoken and encourage you to think outside the box. Conversation is key to nurturing creativity! Using ethically sourced and high quality chocolate, sourced from Colombia we can rest safe in the knowledge that our ethical practices remain key to creating our product. This is a main focus for the indefinite future as we aim to become a more ethical and sustainable company.
As a growing company, we are finding worldwide demand for our products. We plan to expand outside of the UK to make our chocolate and experiences more accessible. We have seen tremendous demand in the USA and Europe. We are currently exploring these opportunities with the full intention of pursuing them.

About the role
- Full time
- 7.30 am - 4pm Monday - Friday
- 30 minute lunch break
Cleaning :
Cleaning as you go, keeping a tidy work area, end of day clean down, washing up, cleaning equipment.
Making chocolate:
Making chocolate by following recipes, maintaining a high standard of product whilst aiming to achieve targets.
Making fillings:
Using equipment to make fillings, following recipes to make fillings for chocolate bars and chocolate products.
Developing products:
Regularly attending brainstorming sessions with the rest of the team to develop new ideas for potential products and seeing them through to completion.
Record keeping:
Keeping cleaning records, batch numbers, stock rotation, stock checks, delivery records etc
In the wrapping and packing area your duties will include:
Packing customer orders, making sure orders are out on time to meet customers expectations.
Operating the wrapping machine:
Operating our chocolate wrapping machine to wrap chocolate bars.
Wrapping some of our chocolate products by hand.
