Join my clients team as a Debt Recovery Handler and play a crucial role in managing and reducing outstanding debts, thus limiting financial loss to the business. This position is ideal for someone with strong negotiation skills and experience in debt recovery or credit control.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Proactively manage and report on a portfolio of claims where debt remains outstanding.
  • Liaise with debtors to reach settlements on the best possible terms.
  • Negotiate agreements and payment plans with debtors, ensuring adherence to these plans.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers and stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Achieve targets and KPIs related to debt recovery.
  • Handle outbound and inbound calls from customers.
  • Assist with debt collection related processes alongside panel solicitors.
  • Use initiative and work within the framework set by the Team Leader to ensure the timely collection of outstanding debts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • GCSE English & Maths Grade C/5 or above.
  • Strong listening skills with the ability to explain things clearly and tailor communications to individual customer needs.
  • Awareness of Vulnerable Customers and Consumer Duty regulations.
  • Essential telephony experience.
  • Efficient problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's workload effectively.
  • Experience in debt recovery or credit control.
  • Resilient and able to handle difficult interactions with customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in an office environment and dealing with clients over the phone.
