The CompanyWe are pleased to be supporting VLS in their search for an experienced Head of Fleet Management to be based out of their Head office in North Tyneside.As a leading UK fleet management and maintenance company, VLS operates a fleet of more than 5,000 assets including Vans, HGV Trailers, and Large plant. The diverse fleet assets range from company cars, small trailers, and aerial platforms to excavators and 44 tonne tankers. A team of specialist engineers and network of workshops ensures vehicles are fully compliant and off-road for minimum periods.Their investment in technology means a digital fleet management system connects vehicle drivers, fleet management (database), workshops, suppliers (ordering and payment) and customers into a paperless, transparent process.The development and growth of the business have come though providing outstanding customer service to businesses in the utility and local authority sectors. This sector experience and expertise is largely based on the foundations of the business.This is an exciting opportunity to join an established successful business and play a valuable role within the senior leadership team.The RoleThe Head of Fleet Management is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of fleet management, ensuring legal compliance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.. This role involves supplier management, and the development of VLS’ decarbonization strategy to support the business.Some of the key accountabilities will include: •    Provide strategic leadership to the Fleet Management function, overseeing the performance, compliance, and continuous improvement of the fleet management service.•    Ensure the Fleet Management Controller and team have the necessary systems and development in place to provide the required customer service levels.•    Ensure the fleet management system is correctly configured and optimized to deliver compliance and efficiency.•    Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.The PersonThis role will play a key part in the continued success of the business and as such we are looking to speak to candidates who display the following skills and attributes:•    Experience in a similar Fleet management role•    People management skills•    Operational experience of database systems and data management•    Proactive approach and solutions focused•    Able to work at a strategic level whilst still keeping in touch with the day to day•    Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
