Associate Director - Town Planning
Location: London, Birmingham, Northampton or Manchester (Hybrid - 1-2 days in office per week)
Salary: 拢50,000-拢60,000 + car allowance + bonus + benefits (dependent on experience)

Are you a talented Principal Town Planner or Associate Town Planner looking to take the next step in your career? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Principal Town Planning Consultant or Associate Director to join a leading national consultancy team working across the residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and employment sectors.

This role is ideal for a confident and driven individual with a strong background in planning consultancy or local authority planning, and a passion for delivering high-quality outcomes across a wide variety of projects. You will manage your own caseload, lead complex applications and appeals, and support the development of junior team members.

You'll be instrumental in business development - maintaining strong client relationships and actively identifying new opportunities to drive growth. A personal portfolio of clients or proven ability to generate new business will be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
路Manage a personal caseload of complex planning projects and client accounts
路Prepare and submit major planning applications and appeals
路Represent clients at committee meetings, hearings, and public examinations
路Conduct site appraisals and planning policy research to assess development potential
路Produce detailed planning reports and strategic recommendations
路Engage effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, and the wider project team
路Attend site visits and client meetings
路Lead on business development activities, including networking and proposal preparatio


About You:
路Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
路Chartered Member of the RTPI (essential)
路Significant post-qualification experience in a consultancy or local authority setting
路In-depth understanding of UK planning legislation and policy
路Demonstrable success in managing complex applications and appeals
路Proven track record of developing client relationships and generating fee income
路Excellent written and verbal communication skills
路Commercially focused, with a strategic mindset
