Reed are working with a College in Northamptonshire and are seeking a proactive and skilled Estate Support Officer to join their facilities team. This role is crucial in maintaining the operational standards of our estate, ensuring that all college buildings and grounds are kept in excellent condition to support a high-quality student experience.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Perform a variety of handyman and caretaker duties across the estate.
  • Maintain college building stock, including plant, structures, and all ancillary equipment, in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that teaching facilities, furniture, fixtures, and fittings are available, cleaned, and maintained.
  • Carry out minor repairs on-site, such as replacing light bulbs, fixing leaking taps, touching up paintwork, repairing door handles, and toilet cisterns.
  • Escalate additional works and repairs to the helpdesk in a timely manner.
  • Manage daily waste disposal, sweep debris in car parks and grounds, and ensure continuous litter picking.
  • Monitor outsourced cleaners and grounds staff, and occasionally perform ground works and maintenance as required.
  • Assist with furniture, equipment, and office moves according to the needs of the college.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ideally hold a Level 2 trade skills qualification in a relevant field such as electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
  • Extensive DIY experience or a work history in trades.
  • Experience in a similar role, providing maintenance and caretaker services.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the business needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage positively with college staff, students, and site users.
