Sous Chef

Location: Sywell, Northamptonshire

The Role

The Hotel is looking for an experienced, creative and motivated Sous Chef to join their busy kitchen team.

The food they produce is fresh, varied and good quality ranging from bar meals to the restaurant and functions.

Own transport essential due to rural location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing, cooking and presenting high quality dishes.
  • Assist Head Chef in creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes and have input in new ways of presentation or dishes.
  • Ensure the consistent production of high-quality food at all times.
  • Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation and profitability of food production and manage portion and waste control.
  • Monitor holding and storage operations, stocking and food rotation, and guarantee food service sanitation standards are met.
  • Assisting with the management of health and safety and food hygiene practices.
  • Support with the training and development of the team.
  • Deputise in the Head Chef’s absence.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Sous Chef role demonstrating ability to work productively at pace.
  • Minimum of Level 1 and 2 Food Safety and Health and Safety qualifications.
  • Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety.
  • A creative approach and passion for producing high quality food.
  • Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and work well as part of a team.
  • Friendly, adaptable, hardworking and enthusiastic.
