Based Thrapston Office - Hybrid. Office morning to pick up plans, sort IT etc. Site visits in NN. Team of 4 Inspectors, 1 Lead, 4 Admin

Most attend the office every morning to pick up plans, before Site visits. Some attend office once per week on a Monday to pick up plans for the week ahead.
Principal responsibilities
- To carry out the full range of Building Control activities including site inspections and plan appraisals, investigating dangerous structures, responding to customer enquiries, coordinating statutory consultations, demolitions, liaising with experts, internal and external stakeholders
- To proactively manage contravening building works and enforce the requirements of the building regulationsthrough effective enforcement in line with service policies and procedures and the Operational Standards Rules published by the Building Safety Regulator. To investigate alleged breaches of building regulations, gather evidence and attend court as required.
- To be the lead Inspector on the more complex building regulation applications handled by the service as allocated by the Building Control Manager including supervision of fellow Inspectors within the team seeking experience on such projects.
- To maintain detailed accurate records of casework undertaken and involvement in projects in line with performance standards and Operational Standards Rules published by the Building Safety Regulator.
- To assist the Building Control Manager with the oversight and delivery of the day-to-day delivery of the Building Control service as required, managing resources to ensure that the service meets statutory requirements and monitoring performance to ensure that the service meets service plan and performance indicator targets and operational needs as required.
- To act as a senior technical advisor for Building Control,providing legislative guidance and technical support to the Building Control team and other linked services within the council, preparing reports and attending meetings as required.
- To follow the approved processes and procedures of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System accreditation process and/or other initiatives to ensure a consistently high quality of service delivery to service users.
- To take an active role in the organisation, management, and participation of a dangerous structure response service in line with corporate directions and objectives to minimise the risk to the council and protect public safety. To organise and inspect emergency remedial work as necessary to secure service objectives.
