The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking Reliability and Projects Engineer to join our Engineering Team at Smurfit Westrock, Northampton.
This role is perfect for someone with an analytical approach to problem-solving and a passion for improving performance and reliability. You’ll combine strong project management skills with a proactive mindset, driving improvements in preventive and predictive maintenance across our production equipment, infrastructure, and facilities.
Key elements of the role involve:
- Leading root cause investigations and failure analysis to identify issues before they occur, using data insights to improve equipment performance.
- Developing and implementing predictive and preventive maintenance programs to maximise uptime and efficiency.
- Partnering with engineering and maintenance teams to integrate new technologies, RCM, and TPM initiatives.
- Delivering clear reports and recommendations to senior management, tracking performance and improvement measures.
- Proactively managing asset reliability risks, ensuring safety and compliance with quality standards.
- Identifying new technologies, processes, and opportunities to boost reliability.
- Applying FMECA and statistical analysis to predict and prevent failures.
- Supporting design and implementation of Capex projects, ensuring durability and reliability are built in from the start.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles, statistical analysis, and maintenance practices.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to work with large datasets.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
- Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, plus relevant industry experience.
- Project management expertise – capable of planning, scheduling, and managing multiple priorities.
- Experience with data management tools and reporting insights to stakeholders.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on safety and risk reduction.
- SAP-ERP knowledge at administrator level (or willingness to progress to “Super-User” with training) desirable.
