About the Role

One of my local goverment clientsis seeking anexperienced Housing Options Officers to join our Housing Solutions team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact in supporting some of the most vulnerable residents in our community.

You will play a key role in the delivery of homelessness prevention services, applying your detailed knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI & VII) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to manage a varied and often complex caseload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, including drafting robust Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs).

  • Determine prevention and relief duties, ensuring accurate interpretation of housing legislation.

  • Manage a varied caseload including individuals and families with complex needs or a history of rough sleeping.

  • Maintain a prevention-focused approach, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.

  • Prepare and present decision letters and case files in accordance with legal obligations.

Essential Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven experience in a Housing Options/Homelessness Officer role within a local authority.

  • In-depth understanding of the Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI & VII).

  • Experience applying the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 in a statutory setting.

  • Ability to assess complex cases, draft decision letters, and formulate effective PHPs.

  • Strong communication and case management skills.
