Assistant Transport Manager
Temporary to Permanent opportunity
Based in Crick, Northants

Our large friendly distribution client in Crick is seeking a proactive, forward thinking individual to assist in overseeing the day to day operation of budgets and performance, customer relationships, compliance and personnel issues relating to staff.
Main tasks :
- Minimise cost to the business by fully utilising all resources within the team.
- Monitor and update the in house system ensuring delivery, cost and performance information is up to date.
- Actively working to reach targets and assisting the Transport Manager if targets aren't met
- Support the Transport Manager in ensuring that customer relationships are built on integrity and professionalism.
- Deputise for the Transport Manager in their absence. Attending conference calls, morning meetings and acting as point of contact with the customer
- Complete daily risk assessments of the site.
- Review processes regularly to ensure they are current and follow best practice.
- Monitor the fleet servicing to make sure the depot complies with client servicing requirements
- Managing absence
- Dealing with recruitment
- Training and development of staff
- Disciplinary/Grievance managing the process
- Dealing with defective equipment, and sorting out repairs
- Keep their Intranet up to date
Person Spec
- GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English
- At least 3 years experience with operations or planning within logistics
- Good working knowledge of WTD and drivers hours regulations
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Sound IT skills
- Excellent Communication and organisational skills
- Sound Admin experience
- Proactive, positive attitude
- Able to multi task and work to tight deadlines
