Design Engineer Lead

Impact are currently recruiting for a developing and rapidly growing business for a Lead Design & Estimating Engineer to take full responsibility of developing and delivering technical design and cost estimation for various projects across the UK. As a Lead Engineer you will have growing involvement in the budgeting and tender process for each client. This role is crucial for delivering on client requirements using design experience to bring accuracy, commercial insight, and technical know-how to every proposal.

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5:30pm

Salary: 50k - 60k (depending on experience)

Key responsibilities include:

• Producing detailed technical designs and drawings using AutoCAD
• Conducting desktop surveys and reviewing client specifications
• Creating accurate and commercially viable quotations
• Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers to specify and cost components
• Supporting (and eventually leading) the bid process
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in workflows and systems

Experience required:

• Solid experience in technical design and cost estimation
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and practices
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Project
• A commercial mindset - you understand that effective design also needs to make business sense
• The ability to stay calm and focused under time pressure and changing scopes
• A collaborative, team-first attitude
