Electrical Estimator

1st Step Solutions are supporting a M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for a Electrical Estimator on a permanent basis based in Northampton.

Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate and competitive electrical cost estimates for MEP projects ranging from 500k to 20m+
* Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and client requirements
* Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams during pre-construction phases
* Identify risks, exclusions, and opportunities to add value within the estimating process
* Attend tender review meetings and provide detailed breakdowns and justifications
* Build and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners for accurate pricing and lead times
* Participate in value engineering exercises and alternative proposals
* Ensure compliance with current industry regulations, technical standards, and health & safety expectations
* Contribute to post-tender negotiations and project handovers to delivery teams

* Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
* Strong analytical and organisational skills
* Clear and confident communication (written and verbal)
* Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in electrical estimating within the building services or MEP sector
* Ideally HNC/HND or degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
* Experience with estimation software
* Competent in reading and interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications
