Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Estimator with a keen interest in buying to join our team. In this role, you will support our estimating and procurement activities, contributing to the successful execution of projects within civils and ground works by providing accurate cost estimates and sourcing materials efficiently. Responsibilities:
Estimating:
Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on drawings, specifications, and site visits.
Collaborate with senior estimators to analyse project requirements, labour costs, materials, and other relevant factors.
Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure precision and efficiency in estimating processes.
Buying:
Source and procure materials and services required for projects, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to negotiate favourable terms and pricing agreements.
Monitor inventory levels and manage purchasing schedules to support project timelines and budget constraints.
Coordinate with project managers and other departments to align purchasing activities with project needs and timelines.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of estimates, purchase orders, and supplier contracts.
Prepare reports and updates on purchasing activities, cost trends, and supplier performance.
Qualifications:
Experience withing business administration, or related field preferred.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in estimating and buying processes.
Excellent EXCEL skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Prior experience in estimating or purchasing within the construction industry is a plus but not required for entry-level candidates.
