The Financial Controller will lead the preparation of management accounts across multiple UK and international entities, oversee the audit process, and support the finance team through a period of system transition and growth. This hands-on role is key to driving process improvements, ensuring financial accuracy, and contributing to the group's future strategic direction.

Description

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the external audit process.

  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly management accounts across multiple UK entities and several international subsidiaries.

  • Manage a team of part-qualified and qualified accountants, providing guidance, support, and development.

  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns, payroll processes, and general ledger accuracy.

  • Support the continued rollout and integration of Dynamics 365, ensuring data integrity and process alignment.

  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.

  • Collaborate with other finance leads on budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering.

  • Ensure compliance with group accounting policies and statutory requirements.

  • Provide support and continuity during maternity cover within the finance team.

  • Contribute to succession planning, staff development, and knowledge sharing across the function.

Profile

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, results-driven finance professional with strong technical accounting skills and experience in managing audits, financial reporting, and team leadership. They will have a proactive, problem-solving mindset, with the ability to drive process improvements and adapt to new systems. A collaborative approach is essential, as the role requires working closely with other finance team members and cross-functional stakeholders. Ideally, they will have a background in both financial accounting and business partnering, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous development.
