Accounts Assistant | CleanTech Business | Cheshire | Up to £32k

The Role

We are currently looking for a Finance Assistant to support key internal functions. This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll contribute to both day-to-day finance activities and wider operational support. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll work closely with multiple departments, building relationships and helping to ensure our processes run smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement and accounts payable processes (including purchase orders, invoice processing, and payment coordination)
  • Support staff with expense submissions and credit card reconciliations
  • Assist with stock and inventory management across internal teams
  • Coordinate logistical tasks to support site operations
  • Provide general administrative support and suggest process improvements
  • Support month-end activities (e.g., accruals, prepayments, reconciliations)
  • Assist in preparing financial information for audits and reporting cycles
  • Submit VAT returns and assist with internal tax documentation
  • Contribute to health & safety reporting processes
  • Build strong working relationships across teams and departments

What We Need to See (Essential)

  • 12 months of experience in a finance or bookkeeping role
  • Solid understanding of key finance processes and responsibilities
  • Comfortable working across functions and managing competing priorities
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to work in a fast-paced environment

What We'd Like to See (Bonus)

  • Experience using accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, etc.)
  • Exposure to month-end and audit preparation processes
  • Experience supporting operational or technical teams
