About the Role
We are looking for a caring, adaptable, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school community. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing - ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and inclusive environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about education, particularly those with experience or interest in Early Years, Primary, or SEND support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across a range of abilities.
Assist the class teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons.
Support pupils with SEN or additional learning needs, promoting inclusion and positive behaviour.
Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and organised classroom environment.
Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to the teacher.
Supervise pupils during playtime, lunchtime, and school activities as needed.
Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
Adhere to safeguarding policies and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Must-Have Skills and Requirements
Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant / Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (or working towards one).
Experience working with children in a classroom, nursery, or educational setting.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning.
Reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitude.
Good-to-Have Skills
Experience supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, or speech and language needs.
Understanding of the EYFS or National Curriculum.
Knowledge of behaviour management strategies.
Creative skills in art, music, or STEM activities to enhance learning experiences.
Familiarity with educational software or assistive technologies.
First Aid or Safeguarding certification.
